Getting married in Verona with Marie Antoinette touches

Now that peak season is over, it is time to return to the office. And I can hardly wait to tell you a secret: I’ve had an amazing wedding in Verona in September. A baroque wedding in one of the marvellous villas in Valpolicella, right in the heart of the Verona region known for Romeo and Juliet, the Arena and the fabulous wines.

This couple, coming from Great Britain, had settled on having their wedding in Italy. And with them there was no doubt: The Venetian villas in Valpolicella, Verona, were just what they had been dreaming of. So we looked out for the perfect spot and they chose a beautiful mansion with frescos on the ceiling, full of antique furniture, statues and other magnificient art work. A real dream venue in the Verona area, perfect as the wedding was supposed to be a Mari Ann style wedding, with lots of baroque accents.

Fans as place cards

As focal point for the guests was chosen Byblos Art hotel Villa Amistà  which stood the distance amazingly. The five-star hotel is an incredible work of art in itself with sculptures, paintings, glassware, frescos and ceramics incorporated at all levels. Even the rooms are gorgeously furnished with modern design and fabulous, stylish details which easily can take your breath away. And the staff is beyond five-star making a stay in this wonderful place an absolut winner. Getting married in Verona is a dream for many couples, and making this particular dream come true really did show to be one of our best “performances”. Hors d’oeuvres were prepared with style in the grand salon on the ground floor and guests had time to mingle and enjoy the delicious food and the lush setting. Many took the opportunity of visiting the beautiful Italian garden with its haze or just sitting relaxing in the furniture on the front porch.

The dinner was to take place on the first floor, at the end of the grand staircase. The bride had chosen mirror tops and sage green table cloths for the round dining tables, making be the perfect backdrop for a grand chandelier centerpiece covered in babybreath. Surrounding the chandelier golden bowls and vases carrying ivory, pale pink and hot pink roses and hydrangea. It was a magnificient sight.

As for the wedding cake it surely left everyone, including the bride, speechless: A five-tiered white, pale pink and sage green baroque Italian wedding cake which looked fabulous and tasted even better!
